Try and be as moral as possible – or kill and rob the first merchant you come across. Rigidly follow the main storyline – or wander off and ignore it entirely. Perhaps its greatest strength is the fact that everybody can play it differently.
Is it the dark humour? The unparalleled sense of freedom? The decisions and consequences that give the your actions such a sense of significance? I've spent the last few days trying to put my finger on what it is exactly that makes the Fallout series so singularly captivating.
